It has been decided Riva will do one of our "famous" projects.... a bar project.

Lets work on figurin out the "rules and regs" so to speak, and split up into teams.

Lets get voluteer's and/or nominations for team leaders. (should be active during the contest run)

I'm in, but i would prefer not to be a leader unless i have to be.

Another general point. I believe in the past we've said you can't buy the bars(duh) but buying ings has been ok. Are we going to follow that same rule through this one?

i would say no buying of anything other then FPs and no using harvest ables that were in your storage before the event started.

I'd say you can buy anything except bars.

A couple points, not using items already in storage isn't really a good idea, it's not really "enforceable", and also... I don't know exactly what I had in storage before we started. The only way to really know that would to have been to save a log of your storage... I know approximates, but not exact.

If you are going to allow buying of anything(you kind of have to), then it's not necessarily fair to exclude what... For example, neither shallara nor I will buy feasting pots. We may even make some of the vials for FP's from scratch... So does that mean we couldn't buy the fire ess needed for the vials, and then also the wine?

At the end of the day the goal is to turn in as many bars as possible for the benefit of Adarah and Riva. I wouldn't say we have many people overly rich in Riva anyways that would sink massive amounts of money into anything. I know I personally only have about 65k.

Guess I have some musings and wonderings going on, and would ask for some clarifications on the Rules of this Contest....

Is the goal of the test to see how many bars/essies are reasonable for each team to make in the allotted time? If so perhaps All ought to be done from scratch with the most co-operation possible among team members..... if it too is a goal to reinforce teamwork as a fundamental raison d'etre....

or if it is to make the Most possible amounts, then perhaps Inventory items ought to be available to the teams. I personnally do not carry much in inventory that is not already allocated to other projects that I would Not touch. I know some have other methods that I respect and wish some day to emulate.

The main goals of a Rivan contest of this sort is to

Provide materials needed for the guild, in an environment of enjoyable friendly competetion.

Adarah is low on certain bars and essences the guild needs. Instead of 'forcing' day's long work... we turn it into a game with massive prizes.

They also tend to bring the guild together, as different guildies get to know each other better as we all work together.

What about copper, bronze, seriduim, wolfram, hydro? Any points for those?

Nope. We thought about it, but decided:
First: the bars and ess involved are the ones Adarah (and the guild) are in need of.
Second: somewhat unfair to the newer folks that can't make the high stuff

Remember:

Contestants get a kickback of some of the 'st00f' donated

Hello all - first I'm beary happy to be joining the Rivan's in this project. I will be particularly enjoying the moment when I find out that I've beat cho_yun, Ryddler, and Ferny muhahaha!
I sort of feel that buying stuff is not ok, and even using previously owned stuff is not ok, and a guild like Riva should allow the honor system. But of course, I can also see that I'm an outsider here, and whether Addy (as I've heard her called) is well stocked on certain bars or not means less to me than to you, I imagine. So, I suppose our team will continue to make as much as possible from scratch, for the experience points as well as for the team work, but I might have a gold bar or two that I can spare in sto, somewhere.... where is it... *looks under sofa* ... I know it's here somewhere... :wink:

I think both teams will definitely get a lot of good "st00f". A lot of the discussion here lilbear is on following precedent set by our previous bar contests.

At the end of the day, the goal is get each team as many bars as possible. Think about it another way... If someone is willing to give up their personal stores for the project that's donating stuff that they have worked hard to gather.

If someone buys feasting pots or anything else, it's giving up their gc and donating it to the project. At the end of the day whether a player has resources to donate, or doesn't is completely dependent on each player.

So, I feel the need to "come clean" and appologize and explain. Earlier today, I accidentally poofed a Smurf Team bag. :cry:
To the best of my recollection it contained the following things, which I have replaced from personal stock:
- just under 10k toads (mine too, donated yesterday; 20k toads in 24 hours hurts, especially a potioner)
- just under 3k fes (I was only able to provide ings for replacement)
- 50 srs
- 80 hes
- 20 antidotes
- 10 picks
- 240 coal (replaced in sulfur)
- iron ore, though I don't remember how much; I was not able to replace this directly

To the best of my recollection, there were no bars in the bag as Smurf muled it all to sto last night.

In order to make up for the disappointment my team must be feeling, as well as the time and effort it will take to re-create the fes, and mule the fes and pots back to the spot, I have donated all of my personal iron bars to the team, 430.

In addition, so as to spare Smurf from having to mule another 10k toads, I have "hired" a friend to mule them and paid 2 binding stones for it.

I hope my efforts can make up at least somewhat for poofing a group bag. I am really so very sorry.

this contest has been very good for my poison records.

After repeated afk-poofing and a new poison record, Smurf's team is continuing to battle the forces of EL as we march toward victory. This time, we got hyperbag-jumped >.<
Thanks to hops and antiflag we didn't lose any bars. In fact, we didn't lose all that much at all. I think our new attitude is that not only are we gonna win, but we're gonna win despite all this crappola! Go Team Smurf go!
