It is my belief that EL is being directed primarily by the PKers. They are the ones who gripe the most, and the ones who most likely buy the most items from the EL store. The former is bad, the latter is good (we want Entropy to make some money off his game afterall).

How can we influence a change in this? Most of our suggestions in the EL forums fall on "deaf ears" because they get drowned out by all the n00bs and unsavory characters who have no use for constructive criticism. I propose that we gather a list of proactive suggestions from our non-PK perspective. I say proactive because griping about the vials or cooldown is not going to get us very far as Entropy is probably rather frustrated listening to it.

Notes:
. Ent has said this is a PK game.
. Some of you PK and that is fine.
. Please keep comments constructive as opposed to the normal EL forum garbage.

So, what are your suggestions?

I will start off considering I started the thread and want to get your thoughts going.
: Multitexturing for player customization. It will allow players a moderate amount of uniqueness to their character, and bring in some $$ for special modifications. I have been working on the code for this to no avail so far.
: Greatly expanded spells. Area affect spells (brimstone and ice storm), tiered healing/harming/...,
: Growing forests / changing seasons (i know there are server issues with this)
: Alchemy god (is there one? I am godless...)
: Lots of general tweaks, like using a harv cape for new ores
: X% probability of ROP breaking a Rostogol stone (thanks WiseDwarf)

I say not so much run by PKer but fighters in general. They seem to have the best of both worlds. They can pretty much travel as they see fit, control the prices that they pay for the items they want, and control the flow of the higher level research books. I bust my.....Toosh off gathering ingridients, processing them, mixing them, combining them, running for food, and relelentless clicking. But fighters don't want to pay me what an item is worth. There is always someone out there more desparate than me. Itching to dump some wares. Or noobs who don't know the price of goods. I've done it my self. But now, the pay is not worth the job. And they seem to want to make it even tougher for the crafters. I think you are right. They need some drastic non-fighter bases changes.

Perhaps a merchant guild. Most fighter can make some of the basics they need, but not the real big items. If we could somehow take the pricing out of their hands, then it may be worth it to carry on manufacturing.

It would be nice to see an alchemy God. There is not one yet, nor are there any other means of boosting alchemy. There are potions and Gods for nearly every other skill out there.

If some of the merchants paid descent prices for goods created by players, then the players who use them may start paying descent prices.

Many of the books required to make many of the good are only obtainable by strong fighters, so they benifit in the selling and trading of them directly. But also, they benefit in the long run by making the items more obtainable for them as well.

I'm not too familliar with the game programming, and I imagine most dynamic suggestions (like changing seasons and plant growth) will be quite hard to pull off (based on the way things seem to be going now) but it would be nice to see some scenery changes. smile.gif

I hope this post fits in with what you were asking, and is not too long winded. But these are my thoughts. Feel free to remove them if they don't belong.

: Multitexturing for player customization. It will allow players a moderate amount of uniqueness to their character, and bring in some $$ for special modifications. I have been working on the code for this to no avail so far.
This would be a great way for people to have their own unique characters. Maybe have a small fee and let this unlock a lot of new features that can be added to the player's look. Too many people look the same right now. This would also help Ent out and get him a little more money for all his hard work.
: Greatly expanded spells. Area affect spells (brimstone and ice storm), tiered healing/harming/...,
I really like this idea. This would make the game more exciting for fighters and turn it into more of a role playing game. You have to choose which spells you want to use and what armor to wear to protect yourself from certain spells like cold and fire and such.
: Growing forests / changing seasons (i know there are server issues with this)
With growing forests there would have to be a way to cut down trees and have them be used for something. If not, trees would overrun the game. Seasons would make the game more exciting. Maybe during the winter make it so that you have to wear fur clothing. Also make it so that you can wear fur clothing along with armor just for the fact that people wouldnt be able to fight in the winter if the seasons changed and they couldnt do this.
: Alchemy god (is there one? I am godless...)
I used to think there should be one, but honestly I dont see why there should be. Alchemy items already give off a ton of experience towards the skill. Maybe if the experience for everything in alchemy was altered to be slightly lower then there would be a use for an Alchemy God.

I dont understand what you are trying to say

probability of ROP breaking a Rostogol stone (thanks WiseDwarf)
That guy must have been a genious. I love this idea! :-P

Please read over my posts on this topic. There are some important statements that show why this should be done.

I posted a suggestion on the el forums http://www.eternal-lands.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=26953

Basicly it about removing basic attributes, and having nexuses affect cross attributes. This then means you can set high amounts on nexuses to be able to do things in skills.

So this doesn't really affect fighters negativly to much, it more affect people who like to do everything themselfs. But i better the fighters wont like it as it means they have to spend more money on buying other peoples items.

Take alook at the topic if you want and you can post your comments smile.gif

Just a thought but it would be interesting to have a selective inventory box that would allow you to carry certain items with you at one time. I think this would add more strategery to the game in that you have to go out with a specific mission in mind rather than just carrying all things at once. With 36 spaces (or whatever it is) and 800 emu it is so easy to bring everything with you, including the kitchen sink, where ever you go.

For example:
a fighter has a rostogol stone in his inventory and thus he can not bring the essences to cast magic immunity (or something like that). I think it would help balance the game out a little bit so the rich pkers can't wear the best of everything and maul mediocre players who don't stand a chance.

I don't know anything about the new update or how well my idea would work in the new update with all of the new spells and items so as i said earlier.....just a thought.

nice thread had fun reading it while my char was in the fast reading room

WiseDwarf I love your ideas about rosts. read the whole thread on the EL forum lol (took me a while)

customization is great idea something everyone can use not just the PKers or non-PKers.

Great thread really enjoyed it smile.gif

Thanks sky, I just wish that ent would think the same way....its retarted really.......rings of power are supposed to be great and almighty and they honestly suck and are useless because there are so many ros stones out there. In my eyes, Ent is not doing a very good job with making sure that rings of power still have a use in this game. They become useless when people find them and rely on them so heavily that they know they will now lose a single item because they have that on them. I dont understand his logic and I want him to explain it to me because it does not make any sense at all!!! it is STUPID!!!!

absolutly rosts piss me off to. It just seems like a silly idea.they could keep it in game but stop selling it in the shop that way there would less of them around. Plus it seems that people rely on them way to much. It takes away most of the insentive to PK when you don't get the others stuff. and people will say rosts help people who aren't top 20 PKers PK but really it just makes it MORE expensive because only the top 20 can aford to use like 5 rosts a day. Plus your ideas makes ROPs actualy do something useful and it doesn't completly wreck the whole rost idea. that is a great idea! Did ent even coment on your thread?

Alchemy god - I actually agree that we don't necessarily need one, though for a different reason. Basically, everyone does alchemy. It's not a specific skill, it's a necessity. Yes, I know some work really hard to get high in alchemy, but essentially it's like eating. You just gotta do it in EL.

Harvesting god - See above.

Potion god - The only specific skill (besides engineering, which is still new) that does not have a god. Simply not fair. Rumor has it there are no new god quests because a programmer who can do it is missing. Still, seems like we need this.

More logic behind updates - I doubt we'll be able to get Ent to see this, but I think a lot of players get frustrated because of the order in which things are implemented. We all ran out and bought very expensive books to make bronze (and copper and tin) and when the armor *finally* came out, it was a bust. Many of the potters made hundreds and hundreds of extracts and then mixtures, and guess what, out of nine of them, only one has a purpose now. Then we started on engineering and city building and many now have plenty of rope and ash in storage. But instead of continuing with that, seems like now we're getting a new skill, tailoring. I know new things keep things exciting, but is there anyway Ent could implement three things in the same direction before focusing on something completely different?

I'll add more when I think of more.
