I say not so much run by PKer but fighters in general. They seem to have the best of both worlds. They can pretty much travel as they see fit, control the prices that they pay for the items they want, and control the flow of the higher level research books. I bust my.....Toosh off gathering ingridients, processing them, mixing them, combining them, running for food, and relelentless clicking. But fighters don't want to pay me what an item is worth. There is always someone out there more desparate than me. Itching to dump some wares. Or noobs who don't know the price of goods. I've done it my self. But now, the pay is not worth the job. And they seem to want to make it even tougher for the crafters. I think you are right. They need some drastic non-fighter bases changes.
Perhaps a merchant guild. Most fighter can make some of the basics they need, but not the real big items. If we could somehow take the pricing out of their hands, then it may be worth it to carry on manufacturing.
It would be nice to see an alchemy God. There is not one yet, nor are there any other means of boosting alchemy. There are potions and Gods for nearly every other skill out there.
If some of the merchants paid descent prices for goods created by players, then the players who use them may start paying descent prices.
Many of the books required to make many of the good are only obtainable by strong fighters, so they benifit in the selling and trading of them directly. But also, they benefit in the long run by making the items more obtainable for them as well.
I'm not too familliar with the game programming, and I imagine most dynamic suggestions (like changing seasons and plant growth) will be quite hard to pull off (based on the way things seem to be going now) but it would be nice to see some scenery changes.
I hope this post fits in with what you were asking, and is not too long winded. But these are my thoughts. Feel free to remove them if they don't belong.
