Full Version: Tell me what you think

I had an Idea for a little side business for Riva using Adarah. What if we started out loaning money Intra-guild from Adarah to needy guildes. This money would help them out so they could purchase supplys to build up skills with, and they would have a certain amount of time to repay it, with a 5% charge at the end of thier contract.

I know that a loan would have worked well for myself about a month ago buying leather to manu with. These loans would increase Adarah's and the guilds wealth because of the nominal 5 percent charge, as well these loans would help anyone in a tight spot in the game. I think everyone in Riva would be trustworthy enough to be able to benifit from these loans.

Also to help out Adarahs money supply, if we got enough people willing to use these loans, we could see if any wealthy players would want to store money in Adarah recieving a 2% interest rate. Because of the complexity of accounting for random amounts, we should only use 1k amounts.

For Example: I could take out 5k to buy mana pots from mira, use this with matter essenses to build up my magic skill, sell the vials back for 5gcs a piece and only have to cover the 5% charge which would only equal 250 gcs.

I could run the books. I could even post them on the boards every month just to ensure intergrity and accountability. If this would work well, we could do this also with other guilds such as Beta.

All profits would go to the guild, to help sponsor events in the guild. Just tell me what you all think.

Interesting idea.

not sure of the details, but I like it.

First of all, this "bank" would be more for helping out fellow guildies, than for making money. The charges would be applied only to benifit the guild. Everyone would benifit from the money gained from these charges though. This money gained could be used to sponsor competitons, build up adarah's stocks, contribute more to garions book supply etc...

Ok after stating that above, because everyone would have to feel like these charges are for the good of the guild, I think that the best method for this bank to run smoothly would be:

Use of 1k incriments of money

Normal Peirod of time to have a loan for would be 1-3 weeks depending on the size of the loan and the use of the money.

Each person recieveing a loan would need a reason for why they were taking it out, as well as a plan for how they were going to use the money and be responsible for it when time came to pay up.

Storing money would require a one month bond, removing money before that time would cause a nullification on any interest gained.

I think that a sticky list on the forums would be best for people interested in using this service

I think that three people should decide on each loan, and each person getting a loan would be required to convince all three that they were responsible enough for it.

Everyone would be entitled to see the books at any time

(btw, Im an accounting major in my junior year, and I really enjoy this stuff, so this would be fun for me as well as good experience biggrin.gif )

Variables that need to be discussed:

Percentages used on loans and bonds
Terms and Conditions to Loans
What to do in a case of nonpayment
Who to offer this service too
Compound Interest or Not on Bonds

So after all of this everyone should look at the pro's and con's of this idea:

Pro's:
The Ability to get quick cash to purchase large quanities of certain supplies to help train: such as leather, mana pots, thread, etc..

The Ability for the guild to gain gain more money, to help with what ever is needed at that time

For players who can not save up, being able to grab some cash, or store other cash some sort of a bond gaining a little interest

This would defintly support all types of players, from people needing efe's to others needing large quanities of wine to work on potions

Cons:
Well the biggest, this could flop and we could loose everything, Riva would be knocked of the entire map of EL (im just kidding there, but there is a chance having people go inactive, from time to time, or just skip out on payments, though I dont know anyone in Riva that would do that)

Some players may feel like they are being cheated, and could cause some conflict in the guild. This is the other negitive that can not happen, If I think that this will happen I will automatically trash the idea.

Other negitives would be, if this does actually work, and we do not have enough money to be able to loan out to certain people who need more.

As you can tell Ive put a little thought into this, and I think It would be really neat to try, because to my knowlege I dont think its ever been done in a game before. If anyone has any intelligent input what-so-ever please tell me, b/c id like to see this work, but if you dont think it will speak up b/c Id hate to see this flop

i can see you have thought about this alot, and i have to say it sounds good, i know theres been a few times when i have fallen a little short on money and didn't want to have to sell anything i had saved up in storage so i'v had to go back to flower pick  It would have been nice to take out a 10k loan to get some vials to make sr's and then pay back in a week or so.

And your idea of having people accepting the loan should keep people from not paying back, but i tihnk this could poberly be done by all the leaders like how they vote about new member, they would just make there vote or say any concerns they have befor making there vote.

I'm sure we wont run out of money for this as long as we limit the loans to 20-30k and only give more than tht on special ocations.

Also about the idea of people putting money on adarah and gaining intrest, im not sure that would work, because the way i see it more people are going to put money on adarah than they are going to get out a loan (i could easily put 100k on adarah now and earn an easy 2k) and most of the more experenced players have alot of money lieing arnoud they would just put on adarah (i dreed to think how much kougy has got sitting in here storage), so maybe we could just leave out the idea of putting money on adarah, and im sure if we ever fall low on money there will be more than enough rivan's while to lend money at no cost

I've put some thought into this idea and can see some down sides to it . Like keeping logs on who owes what and how to collect from tardy ppl without creating anger .
Personaly in the past if someone needs to work on their certain skills we usualy find a way to promote some team work to help out . A small group of riva's making fe's or something like that and selling them in magic shop is a easier way to raise cash to promote a certain skill . Or making 1000 matter ess or life ess raises a good price on the market channel .

Basicly it's better to raise the cash you need to work on a certain skill rather then borrow it .

Just my idea

I agree with coco, and if a guildie needs cash, be sure to ask us.

Often we can help you generate enough to get what you need

well i guess i'll add my 2 cents worth. personally i think its a good idea. but i do see everyones point of view. as u do like doing the stuff calein, it could work but to everyone elses point of view i see that they are right in the possible conflicks that could accure. and i would have to say that if help is needed in gaining skill levels or needing money to work on them, there is a lot of rivans that are willing to help on projects to raise the money for needed items. and if someone needs help on raising the cash then they should post a request in the thread "place an order" or in "request to supply leaders"(if there is such a thread) for what they need whether its gc or materials and then when the supply leaders read the post they should get a project going so that when the requesting person is online they then can get the stuff asked for. because i think with a request the requesting person does not need to be there at the time to do the project (but it would be nice if they were there to help on it). but thats my 2 cents worth. not that it is always worth something  laugh.gif
