This is by far the hardest game I have ever tried to play. I have no where else to go for these problems.

To start off I installed the game and the patch and tried to create a character. That's where the trouble began. I clicked done and nothing happened, I waited for 5min for something to happen. The name was available and I was not using the P2P races. I tried to register on the official EL forums but I could not even do that. When I tried to submit my registered info, I got the message that I was not permitted to use the forums.
So having tried everything up to that point I contacted the main Dev. Entropy and told him of my situation. He tried to help me by placing the name I wanted on the "white list" but it still didn't work. After a few more tries at it I was given an e-mail by the devs. to stop e-mailing them for help, saying that they were too busy to help me with these sort of problems and told me that I should go post on the forums even after I mentioned in my first e-mail that I was not able to.

So here I am at your forum after having tried almost everything. If you cannot help me, then I will not be able to play (possibly ever) until this bug is fixed. Can you help me?

ok for the forums it is probably your e-mail they dont allow big email companies such as yahoo or hotmail unless you contact roja ingame but seeeing that you cant your in a tough position ask pm roja on the forums to accept you for the game i cannot help for i do not fully understand your problem

I tried to create a account with a hotmail account, a yahoo and a gmail. I even tried it on my brothers computer and it still didn't work even with the firewall disabled.

the forums doesn't let you create an account with yahoo, hotmail, etc, you'll have to find some other e-mail provider to register.

i suggest using spymac ... worked for me

Yeah they don't let you use big free email companys to register to there forms, deathguard so spymac but i just check that website and it under manence and you cant register so maybe if you look around at other not so popular email providers you could get onto the forums, but you could aways post on the forums as a guess can't you? and sorry I dont know what the problem is maybe if you contact me by email with the details of what you want your charater to be and the name and password(which you can change after you log on) I ill create it for you and then you can see if it lets you log in. my email address is glenn_green87@hotmail.com if you want to try it

The EL forums will not by DEFAULT allow hotmail, yahoo or gmail accounts. However, if you contact Aislinn, Soldus or Placid in game, they can activate on a case-by-case basis.

Hmmm... you're on the white list, and have the 1.0.1 update available on the website? I had the same problem, but getting that stuff worked for me. Try downloading the update again, see if that changes anything (I didn't get the update until after i was on the white list).

I got the forums working! I used operamail and it worked. Thanks alot for the info on e-mail services. But the game is still not working. Kedan tried to help me create a character That I could log on with but even that didn't work. I typed in all the info that he gave me and I got the error message "you do not exist"

So what went wrong?

All the game logging process comes from information on the file el.ini. Did u change anything on this file, that would for example lead you to the test server, instead of the regular one? Are u playing on linux or windows? what kind of internet service u use (dsl, ...) ? I use this game trough dsl in linux version, windows xp, cvs compiled version, altered clinet version, all they work fine. You can contact me on duodecimo@gmail.com, if u wish.

^ I have not changed the .ini file you mentioned, in fact only looking at it now for the first time.

Is what it says in that section of the file.

I'm running Windows XP Pro w/ SP2 on SBCyahoo! 's DSL service. I'm not sure about "cvs compiled version, altered clinet version", or anything like that. All I did was download the game from the Eternal Lands home page and then the subsequent patch. Before patch installation I tried logging in to no avail. After patch ... same story.

I have no idea what to do, it would be best to ask on the etanl lands forums under help me, they will no more there
